I began writing and recording this album in the basement of my family home in late May of 2019, using some old but mostly new material. The album was basically recorded in the same order as it is on the final tracklist, so each song is a natural continuation of the last. I had the privilege of recording my brother, Logan, a violinist, on one of the tracks for a brief violin quartet in the midst of the progressive art-rock of the rest of the album.

Once the recording was finished, I collaborated with painter Heidi Erisman to create the artwork - a piece filled with beautiful symbolism that compliments the music in solemn, grave, and stunning colour. The album was mastered by Ralph Maier, who both gave me final tips for my mixes and applied his own unique and invaluable finishing touches to the sound.
